AMBER’s researchers have a strong track record of engagement with industry and success in competitively won international funding. Our collaborations are diverse and cover a range of key materials questions and innovations built on our core background strengths in 2D materials, nanomaterials development, characterization for improved product development, modelling and computation.

AMBER has a strong emphasis on linking industry to international and national research programmes. Central to AMBER’s research remit are collaborative projects performed with industry partners. Industry partners range from High Potential Start Ups, to indigenous SMEs, and larger MNCs.

AMBER’s research spans the spectrum from blue skies, curiosity-driven research, to the more applied and close-to-market research. Our projects with academic and industry collaborators can move into TRL 5 (technology validated in relevant environment) to 7 (system prototype demonstration in operational environment). There are few facilities for materials scale-up in Ireland. We build capacity in key areas, work at higher TRL levels and provide a direct route to materials innovation.
