AMBER Researchers awarded at Trinity Innovation Awards 2022

Trinity Provost Linda Doyle opened the 2022 Trinity Innovation award ceremony on Tuesday 8th November 2022. The Awards celebrate Trinity College Dublin’s tradition of innovation excellence, and commitment to the creation and dissemination of knowledge and expertise #Concept2Impact

Dr. Stephen Dooley received the Industry Engagement Award. Dr. Dooley has collaborated extensively with industry partners & attracted significant investment to develop low carbon fuels from renewable sources.

Professor Anne Marie Healy was recognised for outstanding contribution of an academic in transferring knowledge to an enterprise partner via the Consult Trinity program. Professor Healy is a pioneer of pharma material science, novel materials for formulation & packaging of pharmaceuticals & has consulted for numerous partners.

Professor Danny Kelly, Professor Conor Buckley both of AMBER Centre, alongside their colleague Dr. David Browe founded Altech Biomedical which is developing a portfolio of cartilage grafts enabling surgeons to repair cartilage defects & restore patient’s quality of life. Altech was awarded under the 2022 Class of Trinity Campus Companies.

Professor Triona Lally received a “Ones to Watch” award. Professor Lally leads collaborative research in tissue engineering, vascular imaging and medical device design to develop diagnostic techniques & devices for treatment of vascular disease.

Professor Ed Lavelle received the Inventor Award for developing a significant body of IP in immunotherapies, vaccine adjuvants & novel biomaterials.

Congratulations also to AMBER Associated Investigator Dr Lewys Jones winner of the “Ones to Watch” Award whose research focuses on improving the design and function of scanning transmission electron microsope (STEM). Dr Jones is co-directing the SFI EPSRC funded Centre for Doctoral training on the Advanced Characterisation of Materials (CDT-CDM) a supplemental AMBER award from SFI.

Trinity Innovation is a professional support group, which champions Trinity’s academic and research community and enables research “from concept to impact.”
