Prof. Ramesh Babu is a Research Associate Professor at TCD School of Chemistry and CRANN and leads the polymeric Materials and Nanocomposite group. He has over 20 years of experience in polymer processing, membrane separation, nanocomposites, additive manufacturing, sustainable materials, biodegradable polymers and polymer characterization.
He has published over 60 international journal papers, conference papers, 11 patent families and four patents. He is also a co-founder of two spinout companies: Bioplastech Limited (2009), and Selfsense Technologies (2014), and a founding member of the Irish Bioeconomy Foundation (IBF).
Dr.Babu’s work with AMBER includes industry, national and internationally funded projects projects, such as collaborations with Merck Millipore, Logitech, and partner in EU funded AgriChemWhey and BioICEP . Currently, he coordinates the BioPOST project funded by EPA on sustainable, biodegradable polymer composites.
Prior to joining the Materials Ireland Polymer Research Centre, Trinity College Dublin, in 2003 he worked at Clariant Gmbh and Asahi-Kasei Corporation, Japan.
