Oran Kennedy Professor

Oran Kennedy received his undergraduate degree in mechanical engineering from Trinity College Dublin (TCD) in 2001. Following a brief period working in industrial research in the UK, he returned to complete his PhD training on a joint graduate program between TCD and Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (RCSI) University of MEdicine and Health Sciences. Oran was then awarded a Fulbright scholarship to travel to the USA, and work at Mount Sinai Hospital & City College of New York. He was then recruited as a faculty member to the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at New York University Medical Center (NYUMC). He then relocated his laboratory back to RCSI, Dublin in the Department of Anatomy and Regenerative Medicine where it also forms part of the Tissue Engineering Research Group (TERG) cluster. He has been awarded multiple SFI, IRC and EU research awards as well as Enterprise Ireland funding for his laboratory, he is also a Principal Investigator (PI) in the Trinity Center for Bioengineering (TCBE) and a Funded Investigator (FI) in the Advanced Materials and Bioengineering Research (AMBER) Center.

AMBER has a strong emphasis on collaboration. Central to AMBER’s research remit are collaborative projects performed with industry partners, and working with academic, industry and wider stakeholder on international and national research programmes.
