Dr Claire McKenna is International Funding Manager at AMBER. Prior to AMBER, Claire was Research Programme Officer for the Schools of Physics and Chemistry in Trinity College Dublin. She has 15 years’ experience in research management roles in the academic sector in Ireland and the UK. In addition to her role in AMBER, Claire is currently also a part-time SFI Public Service Research Fellow, in the Department of Further and Higher Education, Research, Innovation and Science, working on the development of national research policy.
At AMBER she works within the funding team to support AMBER and its researchers in developing research ideas and sourcing funding opportunities from European, International and philanthropic agencies. She has a D.Phil in Laser and Plasma Physics from the University of Oxford, and a B.Sc. (Hons) in Experimental Physics from the University of Galway .
AMBER has a strong emphasis on collaboration. Central to AMBER’s research remit are collaborative projects performed with industry partners, and working with academic, industry and wider stakeholder on international and national research programmes.
