AMBER Transition Year Experience Week

25 October 2024

AMBER’s Transition Year Work Experience Week took place from Tuesday 22nd to Friday 25th October. The Programme kicked off with 18 young people from all over Ireland. Over the week, they worked together on a project focused on how materials science research can improve our lives. Huge thanks to all our researchers who are supporting the experience by providing talks, demos and workshops over the week. A special thanks to our STEM Teacher Internship (STInt) Programme teacher Katie Egan who designed this year’s project challenge for the TY students.

Sadhbh Crean facilitated an inspiring co-creation workshop with the TY group. Students also got to test out their microscopy knowledge with Megan Canavan & Luke Madden and also enjoyed some physics/engineering fun with Eoin Caffrey & Arnie Sasnauskas.

The first AMBER Centre STEM Careers Café today with our TY students interviewing JanMell Dugenio , Luke Madden , Kavin Arunasalam , Xiaoyu Wang & Thibault Giordano to find out more about the paths that led them to pursue materials science & bioengineering research

The final day of workshops happened for AMBER Centre TY before the students showcased their learning for the judging panel on the final day tomorrow. Thank you to the amazing RCSI Tissue Engineering Research Group (TERG) superstars for hosting us in their labs.

Dr Mairead Holden, AMBER’s Education and Training Manager coordinating the Transition Year week.
