We were delighted to host the entire AMBER team at our first in person Internal Conference in over 3 years in the Limerick Strand Hotel last week. Day 1 saw an opening address from Minister for Further and Higher Education, Research, Innovation and Science Simon Harris, a welcome from Director Mick Morris and talks from visiting Fulbright Scholar James Ankrum Associate Professor of Biomedical Engineering and Brian.S Doyle of Intel.
In the afternoon there were updates from each of the Theme leads on the 4 themes: Material for ICT, Materials for Health, Materials for Energy and Sustainable & Functional Materials. Researchers from each theme were put forward to give talks on their abstracts, there were over 100 posters on display and fantastic attendance at the Day 2 Workshops, in particular Working with Industry.
AMBER celebrates 10 years in 2023 and as Minister Simon Harris stated in his opening remarks, here’s to 10 more. Finally it must be acknowledged that the conference would not have been the success it was without the contribution of speakers, theme leads, AMBER ops team and organisers, workshop organisers, the researcher organiser sub-commitee, the SAB, AMBER PIs & FIs and the fantastic posters, images, abstracts and talks from AMBER Postdoc, PhD and Masters Students.
AMBER has a strong emphasis on collaboration. Central to AMBER’s research remit are collaborative projects performed with industry partners, and working with academic, industry and wider stakeholder on international and national research programmes.
