AMBER had a jam packed Science Week 2023 with events held across the country between the 13th and 18th November. Our Education Manager Mairead Holden, our Researchers and Business Development Team showcased the wonders of science to school children from primary and secondary level.
AMBER also engaged with Design Week which coincided with Science Week at which our Project Officer Colm Faulkner joined Shane Holland’s Sumbarinocurraplane at The Complex for an in-conversation. Colm spoke about the science behind the themes of recycling, remaking and innovation and discussed the latest initiatives in recycling and the circular economy.
AMBER held Materials Science Workshops for Primary School children in IKON, Kingspan Innovation Centre, Kingscourt, Cavan and Lacken National School Cavan and Monaghan Education Centre.
Three Science Week Talks were held for both Primary and Post-Primary School Children in Bremore ETSS, Balbriggan and John Scottus PS and Newpark Secondary School, Blackrock Ballsbridge
Finally AMBER held two Materials Science Roadshows which were open to the public and held in Cavan Monaghan Science Festival and Science @ Marina, Cork.
AMBER has a strong emphasis on collaboration. Central to AMBER’s research remit are collaborative projects performed with industry partners, and working with academic, industry and wider stakeholder on international and national research programmes.
