On Tuesday 7th March 2023 AMBER’s Prof. Johnny Coleman MRIA was presented with the 2023 Royal Irish Academy Gold Medal in the Physical and Mathematical Sciences.
Hosted by the President of the Royal Irish Academy, Mary Canning, the ceremony took place in the Royal Irish Academy before an invited audience of members of the Irish higher education system, funding agencies, colleagues, friends and family members of the medallists. Senator Malcolm Byrne, presented Jane Ohlmeyer MRIA with the 2023 Royal Irish Academy Gold Medal in the Humanities and Jonathan N. Coleman MRIA with the 2023 Royal Irish Academy Gold Medal in the Physical and Mathematical Sciences. Both recipients this year from Trinity College Dublin.
Senator Malcolm Byrne, Fianna Fáil Spokesperson, Further & Higher Ed, Research, Innovation, Science delivered a thought-provoking keynote address at the 2023 #RIAGoldMedals presentation ceremony.
Jonathan Coleman MRIA took the opportunity to acknowledge the contributions of his students and colleagues to his work saying,
“I am absolutely delighted to receive the Royal Irish Academy Gold Medal in the Physical and Mathematical Sciences. It’s always nice to have your work recognised and this is recognition for the hard work put in my many research students and postdocs over the last fifteen years. Without them, it would be impossible to do research at all.”
