Colm McAtamney is the General Manager for Operations at AMBER and brings 15 years Research Programme Management experience to the Centre particularly specialising in Industry Academic Research Programmes. Prior to AMBER, Colm was a Research Programme Manager in the CRANN Nanoscience Institute, Trinity College Dublin. Colm has also held Project Management roles in the Biomedical Diagnostics Institute, Dublin City University and the National Centre for Laser Applications, Galway. Colm began his career as a Materials Scientist in NTERA, a HPSU developing Electrochromic Displays.
At AMBER he has responsibility for Operations, Research Programmes, and Education & Outreach Programmes. He works with the Centre Management, Investigators, Researchers and Industry partners – ensuring successful delivery of the full Centre Programme. Colm manages a team of Professional Staff.
He has a BSc in Physics and Biology (Double Hons) from Maynooth University, MSc (Research) in Optical Sensors from Dublin City University and Diploma in Project Management from the Project Management Institute.
AMBER has a strong emphasis on collaboration. Central to AMBER’s research remit are collaborative projects performed with industry partners, and working with academic, industry and wider stakeholder on international and national research programmes.
