Anthony Robinson Associate Professor

Tony is an Associate Professor in the Department of Mechanical, Manufacturing & Biomedical Engineering, Trinity College Dublin, with specific expertise in experimental and computational thermal science and engineering. He has over 25 years’ experience in heat transfer, fluid mechanics and applied energy research and is the author of over 100 academic journal papers, 80 technical reports for industry, business and professional organisations and 10+ patents. Tony holds editorial positions for top tier academic journals and is a scientific advisor for the European Space Agency. In line with national and global energy priorities, he performs research that targets the critical need for improved energy efficiency of thermal energy transport and conversion technologies as well as developing novel clean energy devices and systems.

Current Research:
– Heat recovery from data centres
-Liquid cooling of high-performance computing systems
-Miniature vapour-refrigeration technology for electronics thermal management
– Nanofluids for enhanced cooling and energy efficiency in electronics cooling
-Two-phase thermal management of tower-top telecommunications technology
-Advanced porous material for capillary wick structures in heat pipes
-Enhanced condensation using advanced surface topologies
-Droplet evaporation in microgravity including electrohydrodynamic influences
