Mairéad Holden Education and Training Manager

Mairéad Holden is the Education and Training Manager at AMBER. A registered primary teacher, prior to AMBER, Mairéad served as a teacher educator in the Institute of Education in Dublin City University (DCU) and as a STEM curriculum advisor with the Professional Development Service for Teachers(PDST)/Oide.

At AMBER, Mairéad has responsibility for facilitation and evaluation of AMBER’s education and public engagement activities.

Mairéad holds a Ph.D. in Education from the University of Lincoln, where her thesis focused on the use of online Lesson Study as a vehicle for collaborative learning in STEM. She holds a Postgraduate Certificate in 21st Century Teaching and Learning (Distinction) from Trinity College, Dublin and also holds a Master of Teaching (1st Class Hons.) from DCU, where her thesis focused on STEM and educational disadvantage. She has presented and published research internationally in the area of STEM education. Her other research interests include ethics-in-practice, cross-border collaborative research and self-study action research.

Mairéad is passionate about promoting, enabling and ensuring meaningful access to STEM for all learners.

Collaborate with AMBER

AMBER has a strong emphasis on collaboration. Central to AMBER’s research remit are collaborative projects performed with industry partners, and working with academic, industry and wider stakeholder on international and national research programmes.
